Morningside Village Graduate ResidenceThis project was a design for an apartment complex for married graduate students with children at Notre Dame. The design was produced in collaboration with a mechanical engineering student to optimize building organization, orientation and envelope performance. We had to weigh our energy performance goals against our architectural goals to create a safe, inclusive community for graduate student families at the University.

Located to the East of Notre Dame's campus, this complex has 115 2- and 3-bedroom units arranged in three-unit modules around a central stair. Each module has its own private garden, and is arranged around a central courtyard playground. There is a community garden to the East, protected by residences for married graduate students (without children).
